Unattended Campaign Mode

Dressing & Gifting and any other campaigns that use the talent that won’t be interacting with the platform should enable this setting (eg, any campaigns that use ‘Shadow users’ or ( i ) users). It’s in ‘Advanced Settings’ in the campaign settings.

If you’re running a mixed campaign, where some talent will be interacting with the platform and others won’t be, you should leave it OFF at the campaign level, and can enable it for the individual talent (under ‘Customize settings’ or ‘View custom settings’ for that one activation/user) that needs it.

(aside: I think we should start calling “1st party vs 3rd party” campaigns “attended vs unattended” — it’s a little clearer as to whether the talent is interacting with the platform).

Context on how it works and why we need it:

Normally, we only enable reporting on talent that have accepted the campaign invite & terms explicitly. We do this for various contract/legal/compliance reasons.

Enabling this setting will ‘accept’ or ‘sign’ the campaign invite on the talent’s behalf in order to enable reporting for them — so you should only use it for talent who actually HAS a contract with itb or ipg.

It’s a bit of a hack — fake ‘signing’ on behalf of the talent — but it has the desired effect of making reporting work for these campaigns.

Note on timing of reports appearing:

Normally (ie, attended campaigns), if talent accepts the campaign invite and then submits content, reports appear within 24 hours of first content being submitted, as reports are generated/updated daily.

However, if you were to enable this setting and add talent and content manually all at once, it could take up to 48 hours for the report to first appear. This is because it can take up to 24 hours for this setting to ‘sign the contract’ in the background, and then the report will be generated within the next 24 hour window after the fake ‘signing’. So a best practice here would be to create the campaign and add the users as early as possible, so that the system has time to automatically ‘sign’ for the talent before you add the content and stats — then you’ll only have to wait the normal ‘up to 24h’ for the first report to appear.
